Rugged Sci-fi Mercenary Concept

This is the main character for the short film The Vagabond, which I had the pleasure of working on! I wanted to showcase my design process on this piece, so I included a few different stages in this post.

The final version is where everything is fully rendered and comes together very nicely.

I ended up removing most of the lights at this stage and made some minor changes per the director's request.

Here, I did a rough color pass to get a feel for the colors of the character and to experiment with some design elements such as the neon lights.

This is the rough sketch I had to start with. As you can see, there is a lot of detail I still have to include but this gets the job done for the rough idea.
